At Temple Mill we believe that the geography curriculum will inspire all pupils with a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will ignite a love of learning. Through our enquiry led teaching, children will be encouraged to discover answers to questions through exploration and research. This will enable them to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the world and their place in it.
At Temple Mill we aim to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
At Temple Mill, our approach to teaching Geography in EYFS involves laying the groundwork for studying Geography at KS1 and KS2. In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), children start learning about geography by exploring our school surroundings. We use maps and atlases to discover different places and compare environments. Children get plenty of chances to use our school grounds to practice their skills. Throughout the year, they observe and talk about the weather and seasonal changes. They also learn about different features of the world around us.
